Day 1: Quito, ancestral and colonial footprints

Quito is a multi-faceted city full of hidden mysteries, surprising stories, concealed retreats and love sins. Join our history guides for a tour of the past and present of the Ecuadorian capital, so you do not miss out on these complex and fascinating stories.

We begin with an immersion into the Andean and Hispanic mestizo culture by visiting the old and unknown colonial neighborhoods and art exhibits of the capital, from San Marcos to el Carmen alto churches, from Baroque to the Moorish architectural style. The Mama Cuchara (Mother Spoon) reveals its cultural and gastronomic attractions as we get to appreciate the different styles and artistic quirks that transformed the architectural physiognomy of the city, one step at a time. Traditional lunch is served at La Quinta paila del diablo  restaurant.

During the afternoon, we will talk about the milestones in the history of the city or continue with a tranquil walk among some of the other unescapable sites, such as the Santo Domingo Convent, the Plaza de la Independencia (Independence Square) or the Iglesia de la Compañía de Jesús (Church of the Company of Jesus). This part of the tour adds up to  our encounter of Quito with scenes of daily life and artistical, anthropological and cosmological interpretations. Dinner is not included.
